The Terras Gauda Group comprises of three wineries and one vegetable processing plant: Bodegas Terras Gauda, Viñedos y Bodegas Pittacum and Quinta Sardonia, and the A Rosaleira cannery.
The main goal of the Bodegas Terras Gauda winery is to make the highest quality wines, with their own distinctive personality that emanates from the local noble varieties when they are grown in ideal conditions and vinified according to the traditions of the region but with the most advanced technology and utmost care at all stages of the process.

In 2002 the Bodegas Terras Gauda acquired Bodegas Pittacum, located in the Bierzo Denomination of Origin region to make quality red wines from the grapes of this ancient vineyard and age them in oak barrels.

Terras Gauda Rias Baixias 2018

Country: Spain, Galicia

James Suckling: 92pts

Grape Variety: 70% Albariño, 20% Caíño and 8% Loureiro

Price: $52

The result of the combination of the grape varieties is striking. This is a wine of great complexity where clear citrus aromas of mandarín and orange peel, peach and aniseed mingle with pleasant undertones of earth, jasmine blosson and hay leaf.

Its powerful structure and character are impressive, filling the palate with fleshiness and velvety sensations. At the same time it is fresh, cheerful and very lively thanks to its excellent acidity, treating us to a pleasant, intense and very long finish. Both its aromas on the palate as well as its taste sensations reflect the good ripening conditions of the 2018 vintage

This wine provides us with two apparently contradictory characteristics: it is a complex wine that is easy to drink. The wine is rich on the palate and deserves seafood, specially oysters and crab, perfect with Asian cuisine with rich and spicy sauces.

Bodegas Pittacum Barrica 2016

Country: Spain, Bierzo

Grape Variety: 100% Mencia

Price: $47

Intense color, elegant nose. Ripe black fruit, spices, tobacco, mineral. Unctuous mouthfeel with a long finish.

Pittacum’s profile allows for a rich and varied matching to dishes and foods: grilled or stewed meats, legume pottages, certain ways of prepare fish, but also cold meats, cheeses, pasta, empanadas (Galician savory pie), salads when properly dressed.

Bodegas Pittacum Aurea 2012

Country: Spain, Bierzo

Grape Variety: 100% Mencia

Price: $80

Rich color. Elegant, red fruit, cherry and currants, pure Mencía fragrance. Later the mineral component appears as earth and stone. Structured in the mouth, balanced and fresh, ends after a long palate. A clean, straightforward and deep wine.

Lamb and kid roasts, beef and game stews cooked in wine, grilled meats are some examples of the many other food preparations that are ideal to be paired with Pittacum Aurea, such as, and why not, fish cooked in their own juices. We recommend avoiding very hot spicy flavors.
