Champagne Boizel

Founded in 1834, Champagne Boizel has cultivated excellence since its origins by respecting the values of authenticity and commitment to the best quality. In 180 years of existence, this family house has forged its reputation on the subtlety of its blends and the finesse of its different Champagnes. Then as now, each generation pursues the adventure by combining respect of tradition with a capacity for innovation to continue to produce Champagnes that are constantly more refined and more appealing. The involvement of the family in all stages of production, from the vine to the glass, and the family’s deep roots in Epernay, in the heart of Champagne, are two major strengths for the House. This love for Champagne and the passionate pursuit of finesse, character and elegance in the wines are authentic family values. 

Clos Manou

In 1998 Clos Manou made its first wine; a wine like the ones they like to drink, made with attention and thoroughness, a very precise wine, like the ones you also drink. This first harvest affirms their vision of offering the the best. To become real winemakers, they had to become winegrowers, and build vineyard. So, in the last 15 years, besides their own production and in order to acquire new vines, they created a Wine Estate managing department.

Step by step during 15 years, they found nice soils with exclusively high density vines, around the 10000 vines per hectare. Through the years, the domain grew, with the same passion, the same search of optimization, precision and thoroughness… from 0,12 to 18 hectares today, through the buying of a 4 hectares cru artisan and a 7 hectare cur bourgeois.

Domaine Harmand Geoffroy

Gerard Harmand and his son, Philippe, now lead this family-run estate that was established in the late nineteenth century. The domaine encompasses 9 hectares of vineyards, all planted to Pinot Noir and situated exclusively within the boundaries of the village of Gevrey Chambertin. The viticulture is traditional to its core: the soil is turned by tractor and by hand, herbicides are not used, all in the cause of permitting the roots to reach deeply in their search for “terroir”; no chemical fertilizers are applied nor are insecticides used; debudding is practiced to eliminate undesirable growth, a “vendange verte” is done when necessary and the harvest is, of course, manual.

The vinification is equally traditional: the grapes are destemmed 100%, there is a cold maceration extending at times to five days, the cuvaison unfolds over a 15 to 21 day period (depending on the “cru” and the vintage) under temperature-controlled conditions; the wine is then racked into barrel where the malo-lactic fermentation occurs and the wines are aged for approximately 16 months on the fine lees in small oak barrels (a certain percentage of which is new – more new oak for the more important, structured cuvées) before being bottled without filtration. The domaine recommends that their wines be decanted before service.
