8 Wine & Mooncake Bundles For A Boozy Mid-Autumn Festival

Mooncakes are great with a pot of Chinese tea, but who says you can savour these rich treats with a good glass of wine instead? Light up your Mid-Autumn Festival with happy (and boozy) reunions accompanied by mooncakes from Shangri-La Hotel and Mandarin Oriental Singapore. We’ve collaborated with the two hotels to create eight attractive wine and mooncake bundles packed in attractive boxes to represent the bountiful harvest.

This year, we chose various sparkling wines from wineries like Nino Franco and Champagne Tarlant to accompany these traditional treats, as their yeasty aromas go nicely with the rich-flavoured pastries, with refreshing acidity to balance out and complement the flavours.

The Wines

Domaine Du Vissoux Cremant De Bourgogne
The golden hue of the Crémant de Bourgogne is beautiful to look at, followed by fine and delicate bubbles. Made using a 100% Chardonnay white wine following the traditional method, you get a perfectly balanced and enjoyable sparkling Crémant that goes well with aromatic baked mooncakes. Citrus, floral and mineral aromas and a fresh elegant palate go well with silver lotus paste, and the savoury yolk in Shangri-La Hotel’s Double Yolk Mooncake helps highlight the tropical notes of Chardonnay, also helping to soften the acidity in the wine.

Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco Superiore NV
Nino Franco’s non-vintage sparkling Rustico Prosecco offers incredibly fine value in a high-quality Prosecco. The wine offers gorgeously elegant, fresh, lively fruit, notes of bread dough and citrus, and persistent effervescence that cuts through the richness of mooncakes, its refreshing tangy, citrus flavour accentuating the delicate lotus scent in the mooncakes.

Cava Agustí Torelló Mata Brut Reserva 2016
Elegant, fruity and fresh with ripe apple and syrup notes, Agustí Torelló Mata’s Brut Reserva 2016 has well-integrated bubbles with excellent sugar-acidity balance, and long delicate finish. The fizziness goes perfectly with the aromatic baked mooncake skin, and the fine acidity balances the mild sweetness of the white lotus seed paste.

Champagne Tarlant Brut Tradition N.V
This Tarlant Brut Tradition is a magnificent food champagne marked by the dominance of black grape varieties, which give it complexity, power and maturity that sits finely with cakes on the sweeter side. Generous and powerful with aromas of mirabelle, grilled almond and warm apple, the hints of honey cake and caramel in the mouth will go excellent with the crunchy texture of melon seeds and fermented notes from Mandarin Oriental’s oolong tea mooncakes, for example.
