A man who helped make Prosecco an international phenomenon !
Prosecco is unique because it is made with an indigenous grape variety: Glera, that has been grown historically in the North East of Italy, especially in the Veneto region. Moreover, Prosecco is made as a Sparkling wine through the Charmat Method: the second fermentation, which is a necessary process to give the effervescence to the Prosecco, happens in a pressurized stainless steel tank, in approximately one month.
The Charmat Method is ideal for Prosecco because it preserves the typical aromatic characteristics of the Glera grape.
The village of Valdobbiadene, where Nino Franco winery is located, is the real beating hearth of the Prosecco area, where this wine develop an unmatchable level of elegance, finesse and aroma.
Nino Franco established in 1919, is one of the oldest winery in Valdobbiadene, and a brand which has become synonymous of Premium Quality Prosecco around the world.
“Since 1919, the name Nino Franco has been synonymous with Prosecco di Valdobbiadene.”
Quality is the thread uniting Antonio, Nino, Primo and Silvia. Primo has been the modernization maker: he excluded all those varieties having nothing to do with the area, updated the equipment, reconsidered the techniques and the brand and label image.
In 1983, The Primo Franco Prosecco was born from the idea of discovering again the original Prosecco taste. In the first year of its production, The Primo Franco Prosecco became popular both in Italy and abroad.
In the early nineties in his own vineyard Primo Franco experimented with new planting techniques, including planting old clones of glera, which has given birth to the production of the Grave di Stecca, the winery core that involves the whole family.
The Nino Franco brand is now very strong. And this strength has been achieved thanks to the endless search of quality (to the commitment to look for quality) at any step of the production process as well as to the great dynamism and innovation that drives the company.
Together with the Prosecco Primo Franco, Nino Franco also produces The Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Rustico and the Brut ‘Grave di Stecca’.
