Did you know that Austria has a long history of winemaking, almost as old as the country itself? The most famous grape in Austria is the Grüner Veltliner, which makes mostly dry white wines, though many wine producers also make sweeter white wines and dessert wines. In commemoration of National Austrian Day today, we highlight some of our favourite Austrian wineries in our portfolio, namely Angerhof Tschida and Weingut Jurtschitsch.

Our highlight? The wines from Champagne Boizel. Founded in 1834, Boizel has cultivated excellence since its origins by respecting the values of authenticity and commitment to the best quality. In 180 years of existence, this family house has forged its reputation on the subtlety of its blends and the finesse of its different Champagnes.

We recently spoke with their head winemaker, Rosario Palma Corralles, a graduate of the Pontifical University, who has held several esteemed positions at renowned wineries around the world. After studying agronomy with a specialty in Enology, Rosario joined the Cousino-Macul team early the early 2000s, and has been with the winery since!
