Niepoort Colheita 2005

Region: Portugal, Douro

Retail Price: S$43.00

About the Wine: Superb brick red/brown appearance with medium depth of colour. Very clean fresh aroma with a subdued spicy character and a hint of dried fruits. Refreshing seductive flavours on the palate with dried fruits and a lingering nutty velvety finish on the palate.

About the WineryWhen the Niepoort family moved from Holland to the Douro region of Portugal in 1842, the rise of one of the great port houses of Porto begins. And in 1997, as the fifth generation to make fortified wines for the family business, Dirk Niepoort began a brand new rise. Considered a true Renaissance man, Dirk continues to make port using the same traditional methods as his ancestors. Dirk has striven to improve the company’s Vintage Ports; His vineyards were upgraded (notably most are farmed organically, without any pesticides and herbicides) and the winery completely revamped. As for the grape crushing, Dirk is a passionate advocate of the traditional method of ‘treading’ (by foot) to extract maximum flavour and colour. These efforts resulted in magnificent examples from recently declared years. Fan club Fan Club
