Winery of the Month: Domaine d’Ardhuy

Domaine d’Ardhuy is located in the heart of Burgundy, France in the Côte de Nuits bordering the Côte de Beaune. It is nestled in the Clos des Langres, which has been synonymous with exceptional wine since the monks of the Abbaye de Cîteau planted the first vineyards in the 10th century.

The History

The d’Ardhuy family has owned this estate for four generations perfecting the winemaking process. The Domaine d’Ardhuy was created in 1947 following a beautiful meeting between two wine lovers, Gabriel d’Ardhuy and Éliane during the harvest in Burgundy. This common passion for vines and wine will only be the beginning of a beautiful history that would be written in two regions that are dear to them, Burgundy and the Rhone Valley.

Later, they acquired some of the most beautiful terroirs of the Côte-d’Or such as Corton Pouget Grands Crus in 1956, Gevrey-Chambertin in 1988, Meursault in 1994 or Savigny Lès Beaunes 1er Cru in 2000. After having seven daughters, the Ardhuy family has passed on their love for the world of wine over three generations. Today, two of their daughters, Mireille D’Ardhuy-Santiard and Marie-Pierre D’Ardhuy-Plumet, continue this family tradition.

The Vineyard & Terroir

Domaine d’Ardhuy’s vines are treated with the utmost respect of the terrain and cultivated in a traditional manner, and the estate’s entire production has been certified bio-dynamic since 2012.

The parcels of the estate located on the border between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits benefit from a mosaic of climates whose particularity is exploited as well as possible in the respect of the land so that each of the appellations expresses all the characteristics and characteristics of the great wines. The winegrowers of the Domaine take care with attention and respect of the terroir of 125 different plots (climates from plains and hillside on limestone as well as clay) on 45 appellations. Their reds are produced exclusively from Pinot Noir and our whites from Chardonnay.
