The grapes for the second vintage of Giacosa's Barolo come from selected vineyards of Serralunga d'Alba and a small part from the Comune di Barolo. It is accessible earlier than the Falletto, a little more powerful and punchy and no less charming. The grapes grow on mainly calcareous clay soils, which give the wine a cooler style at first sight. On the nose, dark fruits, spices, tar and lots of tangy licorice with a hint of anise. On the palate, these flavors join tightly woven wild berry fruit to create a fresh, juicy package whose harmony and complexity surprise us at a young age. The tannins are tightly woven, with a few years of bottle aging they will recede in favor of elegance and depth
