In the exceptional year 2016, the Asili single vineyard was chosen for the Riserva in its characteristic red robe, which will not surprise Giacosa connoisseurs. As few as 10,000 bottles of the probably best Giacosa vineyard are sold as Riserva only in the very best years. Asili 2016 shows a seamless integration of wild fruits, blue flowers, spices, balsamic herbs and licorice. The palate then reveals its true class: structure, dimension, intensity and depth leave nothing to be desired; with this vintage, it is arguably one of the best wines we have ever had in the glass from Bruno Giacosa. There is only one flaw with this highly dramatic growth: Whoever wants to enjoy this wine with all its facets and components should be patient for at least another 10 years.
