Reassuringly crafted by Mt Difficulty, Roaring Meg wines are stylish and contemporary Central Otago wines that are vivacious and approachable.

The colourful story of Roaring Meg comes from Central Otago's pioneering past. Discovery of gold in the 1860's attracted many young men to Central Otago in search of fortune and a number of enterprising young women equally keen to share in the spoils. Meg, one such high spirited lady, made such a fuss while being carried over a rapid, it was named after her.

2025 brought another warm, fruitful season to Central Otago. A severe November frost reduced yields in some areas, but unaffected vineyards met or neared targets. A warm and sunny growing season with higher than average night temperatures accelerated ripening and allowed for earlier harvests once flavour was optimal. It was also a notably dry season, keeping disease pressure minimal. The resulting wines show impressive fruit concentration, fine weight, and silky tannins, even in youth.

  • Pale green-straw in colour
  • Vibrant aromas of honeysuckle, lemon zest, gooseberry, and ruby grapefruit.
  • The palate is juicy and citrus-driven, showing notes of grapefruit, lime, and orange. Bright acidity lifts the wine through to a stony, saline finish with a touch of tropical fruit.
  • Salad
  • Goat Cheese
  • Shellfish
