Calvarino is situated in the heart of the Soave Classico zone and is the ancient cornerstone of the family’s vineyards, bought in 1901. The name derives from ‘Little Calvary’ referring to the difficulties in working the land and the tortuously winding path to the bottom. The first label was released as far back as 1971 and the wine is a perfect exemple of true Soave.

The harvest begins in mid-September with the Trebbiano di Soave and then the selection of the grapes for the Recioto di Soave and for the Amarone takes place. At the end of September the harvest of the Garganega grape and the Valpolicella grapes begins. From October the nights are cold, the temperature range is important and the ripening and quality of the fruit improve. The grapes from the most suitable vineyards are harvested later. The 2021 vintage is of excellent quality, with a 25% less harvest than in 2020. The fundamental characteristic of this 2021 was the regularity of the climatic trend and an excellent balance of yield and grape quality. 2021 has all the requisites to become an excellent vintage.

Pale straw yellow, with greenish reflections when young; golden with ageing. The aroma is fresh, flowery with aromas of elder, lemon and cherry. The palate is dry, well balanced and elegant, with tremendous length and finesse. Soave Classico Calvarino has an extra degree of fleshiness that is typical of this bottling. The wine just oozes personality and territory with firmly etched mineral notes (derived from heavily volcanic soils) that leave a fine, dusty patina in the mouth. Pair this delicious wine with the most sophisticated seafood dished created in Southeast Asia that encompass delicate, but fragrant flavors and lemongrass. It also makes an excellent aperitif and partners a wide range of dishes, especially vegetable quiches, delicately flavoured fish, shellfish and cheese soufflés.
