Château Rieussec’s second wine is selected according to the same standards as the first wine. Its character consistently reveals a beautiful aromatic range dominated by citrus flavours. Carmes de Rieussec’s name is a reference to the Carmelite monks in Langon, who owned the Rieussec estate in the 18th century.

Almost entirely Sémillon, this wine is rich but not heavy. Lightness comes with the surprisingly intense acidity that balances the rich apricot and honey flavors. For a second wine, this has impressive quality, ready to drink now.

The nose is already surprisingly subtle. The barrel-ageing is still present but blends perfectly with notes of apricot and candied melon.
The attack is light, but the wine then develops volume and gradually fills the entire palate. The wine has not been affected by the often excessively high summer temperatures.The finish is long and well-defined. This is a wine that has already substantially opened up and should be at its peak in about five years.
