Château Clerc Milon, a Grand Cru estate in the heart of Pauillac, was acquired by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1970. The estate has always had tremendous potential, however there has been rapid improvement in the last decade enabling Clerc Milon to become of the most sought-after wines in Pauillac. La Pastourelle is essentially the 2nd wine of the property, and the first release was in 2009. La Pastourelle offers more accessibility in its youth compared to its counterpart. Although it does have the potential to cellar for 15 years from vintage. The 2010 vintage is drinking wonderfully at present and should be decanted for an hour prior to drinking.
The wine is deep garnet red with crimson highlight. The radiant nose releases a rich and complex bouquet in which aromas of black fruit preserved in spirit combine with chocolate notes and the scent of dried flowers. The succulent and smooth attack leads into a mid-palate which unfolds a lovely texture underpinned by concentrated, silky and deep tannins. The wine is well structure overall, with fullness and heft on the palate, delivering spice and liquorice flavours on the finish.
