The Wine
A bright and deep red color enlightened with notes of violet. An expressive nose with aromas of red fruit and cherries, and only a discrete touch of oak. The palate shows supple tannins, with good fruit and freshness, and an elegant finish.
Domain Alain Gras is located in Saint Romain, a picture-postcard village perched on a beautiful hill between Meursault and Pommard. Saint Romain is a small appellation in Burgundy, with only 100 hectares of vineyards, where excellent Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are produced.
Alain Gras has been working passionately since 1979, with a great respect for the land. This is an exceptional terroir thanks to being on top of a hill, which benefits from a limestone-clay soil that forces the vine roots to descend deep into the bedrock to obtain the nutrients they need. The typicity of the soil in Saint Romain gives minerality, elegance and freshness to our grapes. The domain now extends over 12 hectares, primarily located in Saint Romain, with both whites and reds, in Meursault and Auxey Duresses both whites and reds.
