About Winery

The Bruno Giacosa winery has been producing wine for 4 generations and was founded in 1894. The company’s philosophy to follow a traditional style, but also uses selected modern technology to obtain the best expression from every single terrior and vineyard. Bruno Giacosa believed that great wines are born from the vines by the expert hands of the growers.

In the winery the objective is to produce wines that maintain their identity from the vine to the bottle; therefore the art of producing wine is traditional and respects the typical characteristics of every variety. The cellar is situated in Neive, but also has property in Serralunga d’Alba of around 13 hectares: the Falletto and Falletto Vigna Le Rocche vineyards; and in Barbaresco of around 5 hectares: the Asili and Rabajà vineyards.

In the vintages that the company considers exceptional, they produce the “Riserva” which carries the famous red label. The “Riserva” can either be the Barbaresco Asili or the Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche, these two wines will both have a longer ageing time in the barrel and the bottle, 4 years the former and 5 years the latter. The years that a red label were produced are the following: 1961-1964-1967-1971-1978-1982-1985-1989-1990-1996-1998-2000-2001-2004-2007-2008-2011-2012-2014-2016.

The Falletto and Falletto Vigna Le Rocche vineyards are 380m above sea level and have an ampitheatre lay out, creating a unique microclimate, the Falletto part has a south-west exposure and the Falletto Vigna Le Rocche is south facing. The soil in these vineyards are clayey and calcareous. The Asili vineyard has a south, south-west exposure at 250m above sea level and the soil in this vineyard is clayey and calcareous with a good percentage of sand. Whereas in the Rabajà vineyard the soil is more clayey and calcareous compared to its neighbour Asili, with less sand present and it is also 250m above sea level.
