Clos I Terrasses

Folly often marks a turning point in life, understood only in hindsight. In 1988, Daphne Glorian invested her savings in 17 vine terraces near Gratallops, joining forces with René Barbier, Álvaro Palacios, Carles Pastrana, and Josep Lluís Pérez. Their collaboration birthed modern Priorat in 1989, producing five wines: Clos Mogador, Clos Dofi, Clos Martinet, Clos de l’Obac, and Clos Erasmus.

Daphne’s estate, Clos i Terrasses, honors both the "Clos" that built her reputation and the "Terrasses" she now cultivates. Escales, her original 1.7-hectare site, is now entirely Garnatxa, adding freshness to Clos Erasmus. She later acquired Aubagues and Socarrats, where Garnatxa, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon thrive, contributing depth and structure. Les Vaques and Guinarderes supply fruit for Laurel, while Solanes and Les Manyetes, her newest vineyards, will enrich future blends.

Today, Clos i Terrasses spans 26 hectares, farmed with organic and biodynamic principles, producing low yields but wines of remarkable character. Daphne remains dedicated to expressing her vineyards' unique identity with an intuitive, meticulous approach.
